(as paraphrased from Wikipedia)

The term energeia was first used by Aristotle in his discussions of potentiality and actuality. Coming from the word ergon, meaning work, it closely translates to "at-workness."  Pleasure and happiness are two examples he used to illustrate the concept of energeia, as they represent a state of being actively engaged in emotion. Movement, or kinesis, is another form of energeia.
